Meet Kyle

Rooted in family.
Committed to service.

My goal is to help Wyoming remain a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and residents can count on their city.

I approach public service the same way I approach a project: listen, build relationships, and follow through.

I'm Kyle Brethauer, a member of the Wyoming City Council, husband to Erica, and father of twin boys who attend Wyoming Public Schools. Our family's future is tied to this community, and that makes the decisions we make today personal to me.

As a senior project manager in electronic data interchange, I work to bring people, technology, budgets, and timelines together. My PMP, PMI-ACP, and SAFe certifications support the practical experience I bring to complex projects and public decisions.

Beyond City Council, I serve on Wyoming's Economic Development Corporation and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, participate in the Greater Wyoming Community Resource Alliance, and serve as President of the Grand Rapids Masonic Temple. For the past decade, I have helped organize an annual fundraiser benefiting the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

My priorities

Focus on what matters
to our neighbors.

Strong public safety, dependable infrastructure, and a healthy local economy are the foundation of a community that works for everyone.

01 / PUBLIC SAFETY

Visible, fair, and connected to the community.

Build trust while supporting the people who keep our neighborhoods safe.

  • Support community policing and neighborhood engagement.
  • Invest in youth programs that build positive connections.
  • Support effective responses to mental health needs.
02 / SMART GROWTH

Infrastructure that keeps pace with Wyoming.

Plan responsibly for today's needs and tomorrow's growth.

  • Prioritize roads and other essential infrastructure.
  • Bring project management experience to major city investments, including the ERP system and third water transmission line.
  • Support practical, affordable housing options for long-term residents.
03 / LOCAL ECONOMY

A city where families and businesses can thrive.

Keep everyday affordability at the center of our decisions.

  • Keep taxes reasonable and manage city resources carefully.
  • Support small businesses and a strong local economy.
